My name is Alaina Fordyce. I’ve been volunteering at Robyn’s Nest since May of 2019. I’m a team leader, and I fell in love with volunteering here within the first few days I started. I love volunteering at Robyn’s Nest because there’s nothing more exciting and heartwarming than seeing an animal you’ve gotten to know and love finally get a loving home and family. Everyone here has always been so nice, and the dedication that Robyn has to all of the animals and their well-being inspires me to pursue my dreams even more.
My husband, DJ Fordyce, sometimes joins me on days I volunteer and helps me out with the animals as well. He’s always been really supportive of my dreams of becoming a Veterinary Technician. I am currently going to Sinclair Community College to pursue that dream, and I’m loving every minute of it. I work at Twin Maples Veterinary hospital, where I get to be surrounded by animals every day. If I’m being honest, I only planned on volunteering for a few months or so just to get experience for college. But I fell in love with it so much that here I am years later, enjoying it even more than I did when I first started volunteering, and I didn’t know that was possible. I have a dog, Murphy, and a cat, Tweety, who I love to spoil. I really enjoy the company of animals.
